How to Tie Dye
Tie dyeing is a great activity to do with friends on campus. Tie dye is great for guys and gals so get a big group together like I did with my entire building last night! This video explains how to do two different designs but there are plenty more that you can do.
1. This shirt is really simple. You dampen the shirt just as he does in the video then lay the shirt flat.
2.Then you scrunch up parts of the shirt.
3.Then add whatever colors you like.
4. After that pick up the colored shirt and place it is a plastic bag to sit for 24 hours.
5. Wash out the shirt in the sink until the water comming off the shirt runs clear. Enjoy your TIE DYE
Things to buy and where:
For my tie dyeing I just buy the dye and shirts at Walmart. If you happen to have anything white in your wardrobe that you want to add some color to, feel free to use that too.
1. There are tons of different dye sets to choose from. It all depends on how many people are participating and what colors you like. Each kit includes rubber bands, gloves and dye. However sometimes you need more gloves and rubber bands depending on the amount of people in the group. Here are the different sets sold at Walmart.
This kit includes 12 colors and can make up to 24 shirts! A kit this large is for big groups to take on and master tie dye with. Also this kit might appeal to you if you simply want a ton of different colors.
This kit costs: $24.97
It happens to be the biggest and most expensive kit available.
This kit is what I usually use because the price is more affordable on my college budget and it includes the basic tie dye colors. It includes 5 colors and can make 20 shirts.
This kit costs: $15.99
It is the medium size kit offered and a decent price for the amount of dye you recieve.
This is the smallest kit offered at Walmart stores. It offers the three basic colors for tie tye and can make up to 5 shirts. It is still enough dye for a small group willing to have a lot of fun.
This kit costs: $9.87
It may be the smallest kit but it is most affordable on a college budget!
Enjoy your colorful fun!
God bless!

ReplyDeleteI recently had an activity with my entire building(Hainer Hall). It was great, we tie dyed our shirts that we wore while holding our flag at homecoming!
